Our Adoption Information Service provides information, records release, search, outreach and mediation services.
These support services are available for past adoptions arranged by CatholicCare and our predecessors: Centacare Catholic Family Services and Catholic Family Welfare Bureau.

Whether you’re looking for answers or want to reconnect with your biological family, our Adoption Information Service can help you.
Our team goes above and beyond to meet your specific needs, and are experienced in dealing with complex family situations.
Please note that we can only locate information on past adoptions arranged by CatholicCare and our predecessors, including the babies’ home St Joseph’s Foundling Hospital / St Joseph’s Babies Home in Broadmeadows.
How do I access this service?
People seeking information about a past adoption or searching for biological family can access the Adoption Information Service by choosing one of two available pathways:
- Registering for information through Adoptions Victoria (please email records.adoptions@justice.vic.gov.au or phone (03) 8608 5700).
- Register for information through CatholicCare Victoria by contacting our Footscray office. We’ll then provide you with a registration form, and an authority form to nominate us as your support agency.
Fees
There is no charge to access this service.
This service is funded by the Victorian State Government Department of Justice and Community Safety.
