CatholicCare Victoria offers over 20 courses for parents and carers across Victoria.

These courses cover a range of topics including building resilience in kids, blended and separated families, dealing with anxiety and anger in children, and how to form a better understanding of and relationship with your children. 

We offer a wide variety of workshops for all parents

Blended Families Workshop

This four-hour workshop provides an introduction to the unique and often complex issues associated with step and blended family relationships.

We cover topics relating to children, as well as parenting roles and couple dynamics.

Boys brains

This two-hour workshop gives insights into the workings of a boy's brain and how their needs are different to girls’. During this workshop, we discuss practical strategies to help parents and carer's understand boy's needs and how to meet them.

Bringing up Great Kids

This workshop is for parents with children under the age of 12, and uses mindfulness and reflection to help parents examine and improve communication with their children. By building more respectful and positive interactions, parents can support their child’s development and positive identity.

This workshop is run as a single session and helps parents to:

  • build strong and positive relationships with their children
  • increase their children's confidence and resilience
  • listen and talk more with their children
  • understand communication from their children and how to respond

Resilience is the ability to cope with ups and downs, bounce back and even grow in the face of challenges.

Learn how you can help kids develop skills, habits and attitudes for building resilience, including hot to:

Circle of Security Parenting

The Circle of Security Parenting workshop is a relationship-based parenting program helping you to:

  • understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs
  • support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • enhance the development of your child’s self esteem
  • honour the innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure

Connect

The secret to happy, healthy, confident children is a closer connection with their parent. Bonding, being present, seeing things from their point of view, building trust; it takes time and hard work.

Helping Kids with Big Emotions

This workshop combines the key points from our Kids and Anger and Kids and Worry workshops.  

Anger and worry can be challenging emotions for children and parents alike; this workshop explores children's experiences of these emotions, as well as giving parents practical tools to assist children in managing strong emotions.

Parenting in a world driven by technology presents a set of challenges for parents, guardians, grandparents and carers. Tech is a part of our reality, but setting boundaries around it's use is not always easy.

  • helps you reflect on tech use in your family; considering both the challenges and opportunities
  • explores strategies that focus on creating a safe and healthy tech environment for your family
