Give hope of new beginnings this Easter.

CatholicCare did not just teach me how to survive. They gave me strength. They helped me raise my voice. They reminded me that I am human.”

– Zahra*

Will you provide hope this Easter

Lent calls us to compassion and action for those who are suffering. For people supported by CatholicCare Victoria, this call is deeply real.

Zahra*, an Afghan mother who arrived in Australia three years ago, came seeking safety and dignity after years of conflict, abuse, and displacement. She arrived traumatised, unwell, and alone—separated from her children and carrying profound grief.
Through CatholicCare Victoria’s Asylum Seeker Support Program, Zahra found practical support, medical care, and education pathways—but more importantly, she found people who listened, believed her story, and walked beside her as she rebuilt her life.
Your support during Lent helps restore dignity, hope, and a future for people like Zahra—turning compassion into life-changing action.

Every journey is different, but everyone deserves to belong.

Sima’s journey to stability

Sima is a mother experienced years of displacement and hardship, following her flight from Afghanistan to India. After experiencing family separation, loss, and feeling uncertain about what the future held for her and her family, she came to Australia in hope for a better life for herself and her children. With support from CCV and her community, Sima is now rebuilding her life with her daughters; finding stability, regaining her worth, and working towards independence.

Asylum seekers are among the most vulnerable people in our community

“It is distressing to see how little dignity asylum seekers are offered… and yet they continue to strive for opportunities and a life here for their families. Their courage and resilience, in the face of adversity is inspiring and keeps us striving hard to help them.

In many cases, we have been able to support and empower families and individuals, assisting their transition to economic independence, by exploring pathways to learning, training and employment.

This is such hopeful work, making such a difference to their lives and the whole community.”
