Support for isolating CCV staff in Shepparton

With the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Shepparton, 20,000 community members (one third of the town) including six CatholicCare Victoria staff members are currently in isolation.

Supermarkets are empty, delivery services and click & collect cannot keep up, businesses and restaurants are unable to open due to limited staffing, and morale is low.

In support of our isolating staff and their families, CatholicCare Victoria managers Narelle and Steve (based in Bendigo) got in touch with local café The Last Straw to organise food packages to deliver to our colleagues’ homes.

Jack, from our Shepparton team, put us in touch with The Last Straw and made contactless drop-offs of their morning tea packages to our colleagues, which included a hot coffee or juice.

This small gesture was warmly received by those bound to their houses and all relished the freshly baked goods.

A big thank you to Jack and The Last Straw for making this possible!

As more of our staff are now facing isolation as further exposure sites in Shepparton, Kyabram and Echuca are listed, we are exploring opportunities to provide them with the same support.

Our thoughts are with all those who are doing it tough during this difficult time.
