Refugee Week: Chanduru's story

At the age of eight, Chanduru and his family left their home in India and travelled to Australia for a brighter future.

Chanduru couldn't speak English when he first arrived, impacting his ability to settle into his new school and community.

But now at age 17, he's a fluent speaker and his future is looking bright!

Chanduru is a participant in our Geelong Settle Well program, which supports refugee students to stay engaged in school and build confidence and leadership skills for a brighter future.

As part of this program, Chanduru is also participating in a Leadership and Facilitation Mentoring Program courtesy of CatholicCare Victoria and Upstart Geelong.

Listen to Chanduru's story above!

We thank Chanduru for sharing his story with us this Refugee Week, and we wish him all the best for his tertiary studies.
