Maureen Waddington

Chair
Appointed to the CCB Board June 2019

Maureen is the Director of Mission Integration at St John of God Hospitals Ballarat and Bendigo where formation is her primary role.

Maureen has also held responsibilities for the establishment and management of community mental health services for perinatal and infant mental health, a youth drug and alcohol program, community psychology service and an international social justice program with Tonga.

Maureen holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Theology.

Andrew Jirik

Appointed to the CCB Board June 2019

Andrew is an experienced Finance and Accounting Executive and has held numerous leadership roles at P&O Maritime Services, Australian Associated Motor Insurers (AAMI) and Suncorp Limited. Andrew currently is the Catholic Diocese of Ballarat, Business Manager.
Holding a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy), Masters of Taxation and CPA, Andrew brings expertise in financial leadership, people management, financial and tax accounting and board reporting and communication to the Ballarat Advisory Board.

Tom Niederle

Appointed to the CCB Board Aug 2019

Tom is the founding Director of Design for Performance (D4P). Tom has held a number of Executive and non-executive positions in the Victorian Public Service, Local Government Authorities and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). He has previously held positions as a Director with Emergency Management Victoria, Director Health and Aged Care, and Regional Director with Department of Health and Human Services and its former entities.
Tom brings with him vast knowledge, experience and capabilities having worked in and across complex multi-organisational and multi-sectoral environments. In particular, skills related to health system operations, finance, change management, risk management, governance (clinical and corporate), quality, contract management and integrity.
He possesses a sound knowledge and understanding of public sector including local government, state government and the myriad of public sector entities and private sector organisations that make up the government, health, education, justice and emergency management sectors. He also has significant experience with Boards, Board Chairs, CEO’s, Executive teams and operational team members.
Tom currently holds a Graduate Diploma of Health Science (Health Education), and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health).

Kevin Murnane

Appointed to the CCB Board 2018

Kevin holds a Diploma of Business Studies, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a registered Tax Agent and a former registered Company Auditor.
Kevin is a committed volunteer in the community volunteering at St Vincent’s De Paul, St Patrick’s Cathedral and the Snake Valley Golf Club.
Kevin brings to the Ballarat Advisory Board strong skills in finance, governance, systems development and implementation, business acumen and critical thinking.
Kevin is the CatholicCare Victoria Board representative on the Centacare Housing Services Board.




Elizabeth Ryan

An experienced educator in primary, secondary and tertiary education Elizabeth has held senior leadership roles at St Patrick’s College Ballarat including VCE Coordinator, Head of School and Director of Senior School and Deputy Headmaster: Wellbeing.

With broad management and extensive leadership experience Elizabeth is a current member of the Federation Business School Faculty Advisory Board and an Honorary Fellow of Federation University, Australia.

Elizabeth holds a Masters of Business, Graduate Diploma in Educational administration, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Education and a Diploma of Teaching.

Sally McAlpin

Appointed to the CCB Board Aug 2019

Sally is a Registered Psychologist and holds extensive experience in Family Relationships, Family Law, Mediation and Family Dispute Resolution.
Having worked for over ten years in Family Dispute Resolution at Centacare Ballarat’s Family Relationship Centre, Sally brings a wealth of client knowledge to the Ballarat Advisory Board.
Sally is currently operating a private practice as a Family Consultant, Supervisor and Family Court Report Writer for the Family Court of Australia.
Sally holds a Bachelor of Counselling and Masters in Psychoanalytic and Observational studies with Infants, Children and Young People.

Allan McKinnon

Appointed to the CCB Board 2012

Allan worked for the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development for over forty years. A member of the Rotary Club of Ballarat South and Legacy Allan is a key volunteer on the Commemorative Days Committee.
Allan holds a Bachelor of Education, Graduate Diploma in Religious Education, Graduate Diploma in Education Administration, Diploma in Teaching Asian Studies.

John Murphy

John had a 40 year career in the Commonwealth Public Service that encompassed roles in personnel management, organisational design, resource modelling and management, policy development, community development and the the delivery of community services.
John was a Director of Haven Home Safe housing and homelessness service for 16 years, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Melbourne, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

The Hon. Bob Cameron

Bob Cameron was a long serving Labor Victorian Minister from 1999 until 2010 and Bendigo West MP from 1996 - 2010. During this time Bob was Opposition Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Affairs and Minister of the Crown with responsibility of various portfolios over the 11 years including Minister for Police and Emergency Services.
Bob has a history of serving and working with community organisations including being a former Board member of the Anne Caudle Centre and currently is the Board Chair for Bendigo Health. After retiring from Parliament in 2010 Bob returned to his legal practice in 2011.

Sarah McAdie

Sarah McAdie is currently the Director of Public Affairs at Bendigo Health, a role she has held for eight years, where she oversees the Public Affairs, Fundraising and Governance and Business planning departments.
A communications professional with almost 20 years’ experience she has worked as a Ministerial Adviser in Federal politics, National Communications Manager for DON KRC and has spent the majority of her career in the health sector, including a stint in the NHS in the UK.
Her skills and expertise are wide reaching and include media management, speech writing, internal communications, social and digital media, stakeholder engagement, governance and strategic planning, philanthropy and crisis communications. She previously served on the board of Castlemaine Community Health and the Kyneton Community and Learning Centre, and is an active member of the Country Women’s Association.




Cameron Fraser

Cameron’s career in the not-for-profit and welfare fields commenced in the 1990’s with Mercy Health and Aged Care. This followed senior positions with Coopers & Lybrand and Telstra.
Cameron was appointed Business Manager for the Diocese of Sandhurst in October 2010. The Diocese of Sandhurst is one of four Catholic Dioceses in Victoria and in his role Cameron is focused on listening to the needs of regional Victorians, whilst holding a responsibility to administer the goods of the diocese under the authority of the Bishop.
Cameron brings expertise in finance, corporate governance and the not-for-profit sector with a keen interest in working to meet the Vision of CatholicCare.


Fr Peter Ferwerda

Appointed to the CCS Board 2014

Fr Peter migrated from the Netherlands in 1950 and completed a medical degree in 1970, he worked for five years in various hospitals then entered General Practice for 27 years both as a solo practitioner and later full-time locum work for General Practitioners in Victoria and Interstate.
Fr Peter entered Corpus Christi Seminary in 2002 and was ordained by the late Bishop Joe Grech on 8 December 2006.
Fr Peter worked as Assistant Priest in Wangaratta, then Parish Priest for Kerang, Pyramid Hill and Cohuna for 3 years, then Parish Priest in Myrtleford and Bright for 2 years and is currently Parish Priest of Heathcote.

Ms Beth McConnell

Beth McConnell has over 25 years' experience as a corporate, trust and superannuation solicitor and corporate governance adviser, having worked at leading corporate law firms, in-house with superannuation funds and in management consulting specialising in corporate governance.

Beth provides governance, facilitation and training services through her own consultancy Beth McConnell Consulting. Beth also sits on the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal, the Board of Xavier College, Kew and is an Independent Consultant to the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee of UniSuper.

Beth has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from The University of Melbourne, a Master of Commercial Law from The University of Melbourne and a Diploma of Superannuation Management from Macquarie University. She is also a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Professor Sandra Jones

Appointed to the CCAM Board Feb 2016

Sandra is the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Engagement at ACU. Her role provides leadership, advice and support for ACU's community engagement strategy, including strategic frameworks that implement the new measurement of research engagement and impact.

Prior to her current appointment Sandra was the Director of ACU's Centre for Health and Social Research (CHaSR). Sandra’s research career has focused on the development and delivery of community-based interventions, in partnership with health services and NGOs, to improve the uptake of health promoting and risk-reducing behaviours.

Fr Thang Vu

Appointed to the CCAM Board Jan 2013

Fr Thang spent nearly five years in the Finance industry before he commenced formation for the priesthood at Corpus Christi College. In 2008, Fr Thang was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

After serving five years at Catholic Parish of Ivanhoe as parish priest, he is currently Director of Ministry to Priests. Fr Thang holds a Degree in Accounting from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from Victoria University.


Mr Terry Healy

Appointed to the CCAM Board Jan 2013

Terry’s public service career spanned four decades with the Commonwealth and Victorian State Governments. He held senior roles in central agencies, planning and development, natural resource management and social policy.
His experience includes policy advice, executive and program management, organizational and administrative reform and whole of government coordination. Terry is also a Board member with Domestic Violence Victoria.

Mr Dennis Torpy

Appointed to the CCAM Board Apr 2014

Dennis has more than 18 years’ experience across Catholic and government education sectors, working with Ministers and executive teams in areas of student wellbeing, engagement, inclusion, disabilities, student learning and communications. He also spent a decade in media as a daily print and television journalist and news producer.

He is a member of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government Alumni and Catholic School Parents Victoria Council. Dennis is responsible for strategic policy and advice on key wellbeing portfolios for both Catholic Education Melbourne and Catholic Education Victoria. He holds an Executive Master of Public Administration from Melbourne University.

Mr Kieran Walshe

Appointed to the CCAM Board Jan 2013

Kieran retired from Victoria Police in July 2012 after 44 years of service across a broad range of policing activities and reaching the rank of Deputy Commissioner. He has broad experience in administration, governance, audit and risk and human resources.

Kieran is very focused towards community service and is currently a board member of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation and the Adult Parole Board.
