Recently, CatholicCare Victoria (CCV) joined local organisations and families for the Wyndham Family Fun Day — a vibrant community celebration that brought people together to connect, learn, and share in a day full of fun and belonging.
The event welcomed families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, including members of the Myanmar community, reflecting the rich diversity of the Wyndham region. It was a valuable opportunity for local families to discover community services, connect with providers, and strengthen their sense of inclusion and belonging.
For CCV, the event provided a meaningful platform to engage with families in an informal, friendly environment and promote key programs such as Engaging Wyndham Families, Settlement Engagement & Transition Support (SETS), Counselling and other Family Services.
These programs play an important role in supporting families in the Wyndham community to strengthen connections, access local resources, and build brighter, more connected futures.
Reflecting on the day, Lulu Johnny from CatholicCare Victoria’s SETS team, said:
“It was wonderful to see so many Myanmar families come along, feel welcomed, and connect with others in the community. You could really see how much it meant to them to know there are services here to support them.”
Divya Garg, from the Integrated Family Services team, added:
“Community events like this are so important because they allow families to connect with us in a relaxed and friendly space. When families feel comfortable, they’re more likely to open up about what they need — and that’s where meaningful support begins.”
A day of joy and connection
The day featured a range of games, activities, and giveaways for children, creating an atmosphere of excitement and celebration. Beyond the fun, it also opened the door for meaningful conversations between families and service providers about the support available in their community.
Working together for thriving communities
The Family Fun Day also highlighted the importance of collaboration between local organisations. By working together, community partners demonstrated a shared commitment to celebrating diversity, strengthening family wellbeing, and fostering inclusive communities — especially for new and emerging communities such as Myanmar families.
Looking ahead
Events like the Wyndham Family Fun Day are a reminder that connection and community are at the heart of wellbeing. CCV is proud to be part of such initiatives and remains committed to empowering families, strengthening networks, and helping people from all walks of life to thrive.
