Outreach support for remote communities

Disaster recovery can be a long process. We know that families and individuals in East Gippsland have seen unspeakable devastation that has had a significant impact on the wellbeing of many.

We offer the long-term support, care and hope that families and individuals need as they rebuild their lives.

Our qualified counsellors work with children, teenagers, adults, families and couples. We also support people of all cultural backgrounds, genders and religious beliefs.

Our team can provide support and outreach services to regions across East Gippsland including:

professional and trauma-informed counselling for individuals and families
wellbeing support in schools
referrals to community support services
workshops with children
colour and creativity workshops and other therapeutic workshops/events
coffee and connect visits with communities or at community events
WiFi accessible services

Skilled experience in supporting disaster recovery

Following the Black Saturday fires of 2009, CCV established the Bushfire Community Recovery Service (known as the Disaster Recovery Service from December 2023); a three-year effort to bring counselling, community rebuilding activities and pastoral care to the affected families of the Shire of Murrindindi.

We know that the communities affected by the Black Summer bushfires are closely knit, and know what will best help them to restore fellowship and community.

The Disaster Recovery Service is responsive to these needs, delivering help where the community decides they need it most.

The Disaster Recovery Program is made available by arrangement between East Gippsland Shire Council and CatholicCare Victoria, funded by the Victorian Government through Emergency Recovery Victoria’s Council Bushfire Support in response to the 2019-20 Eastern Victorian Bushfires.

Disaster Recovery is offered at the following locations. Outreach is also available in Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance and other remote areas across East Gippsland.
