What happens during PDR

Property Dispute Resolution (PDR) can help you to avoid Court, save money and reduce the stress involved with separation.

Our qualified practitioners assist separated couples to negotiate the division of assets and liabilities.

The process

  • Establishing an agreed list of assets and liabilities.
  • Discussing factors which the family law act says should be taken into account, including financial and non-financial contributions, and future needs.
  • Deciding on final outcomes, including specifically listing assets and liabilities which will remain with each party.

 

Agreements reached during PDR are not automatically binding, but are commonly used to assist with the preparation of Binding Financial Agreements or Consent Orders, both of which are legally binding.

  • a comprehensive negotiation between parties outside the Court environment
  • agreements can be formalised quickly
  • reduced conflict
  • preservation of a cooperative parenting relationship
