Relationship Education

Building a strong relationship takes time, understanding, and the right tools. Our Relationship Education workshops are designed to help couples strengthen their connection, improve communication, and prepare for a shared future together.

Whether you’re preparing for marriage or simply looking to invest in your relationship, these programs offer a supportive and insightful experience for couples at all stages.

We offer three streams, designed to suit different needs and preferences:

  • Partnerships — one-day group workshop on Saturdays offering couples the chance to learn alongside others in a supportive environment, focusing on communication, understanding differences, managing conflict and thinking about your life together. Couples will not be asked to share their relationship with the group and with the main focus being discussions with their partners.

 

  • FOCCUS — provides a personalised, one-on-one setting where couples pre-fill an online inventory and work privately with a qualified facilitator over three, 50-minute  sessions. A valuable opportunity for couples to explore their relationship in-depth, through guided reflection and discussion. Daytime and evening options available, as well as options for people who live overseas.

 

  • REFOCCUS — five, 50 minute sessions where couples pre-fill an online inventory and work privately with a qualified facilitator. It is designed to be used by a couple throughout their marriage and aims bringing awareness to major aspects of marriage and areas for further discussion.

 

Topics include:  

  • Components of a healthy relationship (Gottman)
  • Reflecting on your life and families
  • Understanding your personalities & working with differences
  • Healthy conversations and communication tools
  • Managing conflict and overcoming gridlock
  • Shared meanings and aspirations

 

Both streams are led by experienced facilitators with a sound understanding of relationship theory. They focus on building on strengths, prevention, and early intervention to support couples to live a healthy life together.

Meet the facilitators

Rozanne

Rozanne has been working with couples for the past 10 years. With a background in Counselling, Rozanne is passionate about prevention, early intervention and helping families turn challenges into opportunities to build loving relationships.

Julia

Julia has spent 15 years working with couples, parents and families to strengthen their relationships. With her background in Social Work, she has the tools (and the passion) to help people connect with each other in meaningful ways.

Mary

Mary has over 30 years facilitating Partnerships and FOCCUS sessions, backed by her experience as Couples Counsellor. With 40+ years of professional wisdom, and a loving marriage of her own, she is very passionate about couples having their own unique relationships.

Partnerships

A one-day pre-marriage workshop where couples reflect on their relationships, explore their strengths, set shared goals, and develop skills to deepen connection — open to all couples, regardless of faith, background, or sexuality.

FOCCUS & REFOCCUS

Private, one-on-one relationship program where couples complete an online inventory and work with a qualified facilitator, to explore their strengths, challenges, and shared goals — open to all couples including those already married.

Fees

  • Partnerships: $340 per couple, or $320 per couple if one or both are unemployed or a student.
  • FOCCUS: $370 per couple, or $320 per couple if one or both are unemployed or a student.

  • Couples who are discerning whether they should get married.

FAQs

They are similar.

 

FOCCUS is based on an online inventory that couples pre-fill. Your facilitator will process your answers with you, then guide you through tailored skill-building activities.

 

Partnerships is based on topics we’ll explore as a group, where couples will have the opportunity to discuss and complete activities privately, with each other on the day. We will cover a range of topics and activities similar to FOCCUS, however, you are encouraged to revisit topics in your own time.

No, however we do discuss relationship theories often used in counselling.

If you would like couples and/or individual counselling, please see our counselling services.

Couples will not be asked to share information about their relationship with other participants, however, may choose to share if they feel inclined to.

Yes. The certificate is also valid for overseas marriages.

People of all, and no faiths are warmly welcome to attend.

 

As the final activity, we will discuss the sacrament, which couples can adapt to their own spirituality, values and beliefs.

Both programs welcome anyone in a committed relationship, those who are discerning whether they should get married, and any couples who might like to use it as an enrichment after marriage.
