Reporting to the Senior Manager Payroll & Shared Services Business Partner, the Financial Accountant, Payroll position is responsible for the timely and efficient management of the General Ledger and Payroll Systems and end to end payroll service, consistent with compliance requirements and providing reporting related to General Ledger and Payroll transactions and other operational criteria to the Finance team to assist in analysis to improve key business strategies.
Specifically, the position is responsible for:
- Monthly reconciliation of wages, superannuation, salary sacrifice deductions posted to General Ledger to the payroll system.
- Assist with preparing accruals and prepayments ensuring a high degree of accuracy, and in accordance with contractual terms.
- Ensure fortnightly and monthly payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate manner, including salary items, taxation and deductions.
- Respond in a timely and confidential manner to payroll system and employee self-service system related queries from employees, line managers and external stakeholders.
- Assist with preparation of commonwealth or state government returns and associated payments (including but not limited to ABS, ACNC, BAS, FBT, PLSL, Workcover).
To be considered for this position, applicants require:
- Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance or Management.
- Achievement of or be studying towards Certified Practicing Accountant and/or Institute of Charted Accountant designation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including proposal writing.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and Payroll Metrics would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a fast-paced finance environment, including general ledger and payroll experience.
