This is an exciting opportunity to join the CatholicCare Victoria (CCV) Parenting Orders Program (POP) Team in Gippsland, based in Pakenham. POP supports separated parents during a challenging life change.
The program works individually, and in a group setting, with clients and aims to reduce parental conflict, improve communication and bring the best interest of the children into consideration. This is important work that can impact on how children experience the separation of their parents.
Specifically, the position is responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments of individual parents, caregivers and children and young people where appropriate including screening of risk issues such as family violence.
- Offering family counselling to parents and their children within the context of family separation.
- If required act as a consultant in Child Inclusive Family Dispute Resolution practice.
- Developing and maintaining a broad understanding of the Family Law Act (1975), amended 2006, and to operate at all times with a cognisance of the provisions of the Act.
To be considered for this position, applicants require:
- Degree in Psychology, Counselling, or Social Work (or related discipline) and eligibility for membership of the A.P.S, A.A.S.W or related professional association.
- Demonstrated experience in working with children, young people and their families in the context of family separation.
- Proven experience facilitating information sessions and education groups.
